How to use this tutorial: start from Step 1 — watch the video once, then crochet along. After each step, check your stitch count against the booklet before moving on. Frogging (unraveling) is part of the process, not a failure — we've packed 20% extra yarn, so go ahead and redo.

Part 1 · Boots & Pants

Black yarn first, then switch to red.

1

Boot · magic ring & increases
the core skill of this whole kit · black yarn

Magic ring with 6 sc → inc in every stitch (12) → [1 sc, 1 inc] offset around (16). Take it slow — this is the move everything else is built on.

2

Boot shaft decreases · make two
black yarn

2 rounds even → decrease round "3 sc, 4 dec, 3 sc, 1 dec" → 2 more rounds even (11) → fasten off. Make two identical boots.

3

Switch to red · join the legs into pants
the trickiest step of the whole kit

On the second leg, switch to red, chain 3, slip stitch to the first leg, then crochet the two pieces together one stitch to one stitch.

4

Pants increases · little balloon pants
red yarn

[1 sc, 1 inc] ×5 → 3 sc → [1 sc, 1 inc] ×5 → 3 sc, then one round even. The increases sit symmetrically on both sides.

Part 2 · Head & Body

Skin-tone head first, then the red body, then join them together.

5

Head · magic ring & increases
skin-tone yarn

Magic ring 6 sc → inc around (12) → [1 sc, inc] (18) → [2 sc, inc] (24) → [3 sc, inc] (30) → offset increases to 42.

6

Head · even rounds, decreases & stuffing
skin-tone yarn

7 rounds even (42) → [5 sc, dec] (36) → offset dec (30) → [3 sc, dec] (24) → offset dec (18). Add fiberfill as you go, fasten off.

7

Red body · continuing from the head
switch to red

Invisible change to red → offset inc (24) → 1 round even → [3 sc, inc] (30) → even rounds → offset inc. Don't crochet too tightly.

8

Join body to pants · crocheting two layers together
red yarn · key step

Align the pants opening with the bottom of the body and crochet through both layers, one stitch to one stitch, all the way around.

9

Finish the body · white hem
red → white

[5 sc, inc] (42) → final round in an invisible change to white for the hem → fasten off, weave in both tails into the body.

Part 3 · Finishing & Small Parts

Belt, arms, nose and blush — the details that make him Santa.

10

Belt & buckle
black + yellow yarn

Black: chain 41, work 40 sc back along the chain. Yellow: chain 12 for the buckle. Weave in the tails so it sits seamless.

11

Arms ×2 · three color changes
black → white → red

Black magic ring 6 sc → [1 sc, inc] → 1 round in white → 5 rounds in red → stuff lightly → decrease to close. Make two.

12

Nose & blush
face pieces

Nose: magic ring 6 sc, cinched into a little ball. Blush: pink yarn split into 2 plies, magic ring 6 sc — make two, these stay flat.

Part 4 · Hat, Beard & Assembly

New stitches: double crochet, hdc, treble — all shown in the video.

13

Hat · pompom, body & brim
new stitch: double crochet

White pompom: magic ring 6 sc → increase → 2 rounds even → decrease, tuck the tails in. Red hat body: double crochet rounds. White brim to finish.

14

Big beard & moustache
new stitches: hdc · treble

Big beard: white, chain 27, then rows combining sc, hdc and dc. Moustache: magic ring + chains + treble crochet, one side mirrored.

15

Assembly · the finish line
yarn needle + craft glue

Glue the big beard on the lower face → layer the moustache on top → nose in the center → sew on the arms and hat. The position is up to your eye — sew wherever feels right.

You did it. 🎄

One stitch at a time, and now there's a Santa on your shelf.
